Join us June 20 for our inaugural CommUNITY Student Photo & Film Festival at the Lincoln Arts Festival. CommUNITY showcases students’ voices while providing a creative outlet to tell young people’s stories. Together with our partners at The Bay, Civic Nebraska will be broadcasting the top photos and short films on the UBT Cube starting at 3:45 pm June 20.

Film is a powerful tool that brings people together and allows unique stories to be told and bridges cultural gaps. During the past year-plus, we’ve seen our community and the world around us change dramatically. The pandemic, social and economic unrest, and the fight for racial equality have had profound effects on students – they have had to spend much of their time away from their friends and peers, resulting in a lack of meaningful ways to express themselves.

Lincoln students grades six through 12 submitted more than 60 photos and short films for consideration. Student winners will receive a range of prizes, including scholarships that they can use for their future education or purchase their own filmmaking equipment and gear.

Come down to The Railyard on June 20 to cheer on the creativity and talent of our youth. The film festival is free and open to everyone!
