5 things about Ethan Carlson, our HR intern

Interns bring new energy and ideas to Civic Nebraska. This semester we're pleased to welcome Ethan Carlson to work with Human Resources Manager Nicholette Seigfreid and our administrative team. We're glad Ethan is here – and we appreciate his outlook on how learning begins when we step outside our comfort zone.

Hi! I’m Ethan Carlson, and I am Civic Nebraska’s new human resources intern. The University of Nebraska is my full-time job; I’m a sophomore studying management in Nebraska U.’s College of Business. The work Civic Nebraska does is incredible, and I am glad I get the chance to work here.

Here are five things about me:

Nor-FORK is my hometown. I like to always include this emphasis because not enough people understand the difference. If you are from Nebraska, you know people from Norfolk say Nor-FORK not Nor-FOLK. It’s a long story, but to earn my respect, use Nor-FORK.

There’s a saying: If you want something done right, ask a busy person. I think that quote resonates with me. I love staying busy, so when I got to college, I looked for things that interested me immediately. Dance Marathon, NHRI Leadership Mentoring, and College of Business Student Advisory Board are three of my biggest involvements.

Any adventure, say the word, I’m there. I love to experience things with people because they make the adventure more enjoyable. Traveling is something I look forward to; I love to geocache, complete escape rooms, and ride rollercoasters. Life’s just better with people.

Service is one of my strongest values. I love to volunteer and give my time for others. Catch me doing something for someone all the time, which can also be very draining (naps are a must).

I am an Enneagram Type 2. Personality tests are some of my favorite things. I love to learn about myself and grow as I do so. I like to think I’m never afraid to step out of my comfort zone because it’s there that we grow the most.

Join us in welcoming Ethan to the Civic Nebraska team. He’s at hrintern@civicnebraska.org.
