Chelsea Egenberger has joined Civic Nebraska as our first school community coordinator at our new Lincoln High School Community Learning Center. Chelsea, a Lincoln High graduate, began her new duties July 15.
The Lincoln High CLC is a program within our Youth Civic Leadership initiatives and officially begins in August. Chelsea is assembling the CLC team and working with Principal Mark Larson and other school staff to ensure the Center’s successful launch.
As school community coordinator at the Lincoln High CLC, Chelsea advocates for students, families, and neighborhood residents; works with the Link community to create effective programs for teens participating in the CLC; and plans, schedules and directs daily CLC activities. She also will be the point person for projects between the CLC and the surrounding community.

Chelsea is looking forward to returning to her alma mater and helping to create a holistic learning environment. She often invokes the late Paul Wellstone, senator from Minnesota, who once said “we all do better when we all do better.” This captures, Chelsea says, the crucial element to community sustainability – that it must include everyone.
“I look forward to hearing from Lincoln High students, families, and community members about how we can strengthen our connections to shape the world around us,” she said. “Every individual has something to offer their community and we hope that Lincoln High can be a space for sharing those gifts.”
After
graduating from Lincoln High, Chelsea earned her bachelor of social work
from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a master’s degree from the University
of Minnesota. She has worked in a variety of human service organizations, with
much of her early career working alongside adults living with mental health
disorders.
As a
community advocate, Chelsea has collaborated with residents and groups around the
issue of housing affordability, economic justice, and community advocacy.
Chelsea joins Civic Nebraska and Lincoln High after guiding the Saratoga Elementary CLC during the 2018-19 school year.
We are so glad that Chelsea has joined the team, and we know she’s going to be a great leader of our new CLC. Join us in welcoming her – she’s at chelsea.egenberger@civicnebraska.org.
