Civic Health Index Series: Innovation in Civic Education

Starting early to learn civic knowledge, mindsets, and skills is important to lifelong civic and political participation. Nebraska educators and communities can partner to provide learning opportunities to make civic learning come to life. On Aug. 10, educators from the state, regional, and local levels in Nebraska discussed innovative ideas and emerging resources for building civic readiness and connecting students to civic learning opportunities in school and the community. Featured panelists included Ebony McKiver, social studies education specialist with the Nebraska Department of Education; Lori Broady, teaching and learning team specialist at ESU 4; and Lacey Glasford and Elizabeth Dunn, instructors at Nebraska City Public Schools.
