Donate to democracy on Give to Lincoln Day

The first $1,000 we raise during Give to Lincoln Day on May 31 will be matched by a generous donor.

On Thursday, May 31, Civic Nebraska will participate in Give to Lincoln Day, a 24-hour charitable challenge through the Lincoln Community Foundation. Give to Lincoln Day is Lincolnites’ annual opportunity to make a big impact on the quality of life in our city.

Every donation we receive on May 31 helps us receive a proportional share of the foundation’s $400,000 challenge match fund. Also, when you donate to Civic Nebraska for Give to Lincoln Day, a generous supporter will match the first $1,000 we receive.

A modern and robust democracy does not build itself — it takes hard work and dedicated community leaders. We do that work through youth civic leadership programs, in K-12 classrooms, after-school clubs, and five entire after-school programs that embed service learning in all aspects of curriculum. We also provide civic health and neighborhood-based leadership and engagement programs in towns and cities across the state. Then, once Nebraskans are engaged in their democracy, we ensure that our elections are accessible, non-partisan and modern.

You can help us defend democracy by supporting Civic Nebraska during Give to Lincoln Day, and advocating for us throughout the day. Here are a few ways you can show your support:

Save the date – and encourage others to, too. Thursday is going to be a big day for giving in Lincoln. You can let friends and loved ones know in advance that you’re donating during Give to Lincoln Day and that you’re supporting Civic Nebraska. Feel free to point them to our donation page.

Schedule your gift in advance. For your convenience, you can schedule an advance gift through 11:59 p.m. this Wednesday and it will count toward our Thursday total. We think of scheduled giving like early voting; it ensures peace of mind. If you think there’s even a slim chance you might be kept from donating during Give to Lincoln Day on Thursday, feel free to donate in advance.

Or, give to us on the big day. Drop by our Give to Lincoln Day page anytime from midnight to midnight Thursday. No gift is too big or too small, and every dollar pushes us closer to our goal.

Get some swag. Donations of $25 or more will receive a vinyl sticker of the Civic Nebraska seal logo, which looks great on a laptop, a car window, or wherever you may choose for it!

Give us some “link love.” Social media posts on Thursday about your support of Civic Nebraska can serve to challenge friends to step up for our organization. If you like, share our Twitter and Facebook posts with your followers. If you make your own, feel free to include a link to our Give to Lincoln Day page in your post, with a reminder that your friends’ and followers’ support helps us earn a proportional share of the $400,000 match fund.

Thank you, sincerely, for being a friend to Civic Nebraska. We’re eager to be a part of Lincoln coming together to give big on Thursday, and we’re proud to count you among those who support our community.
