The Voting Rights Organizing and Data Specialist will supervise part-time canvassers and maintain the data for statewide voting rights outreach initiatives. Key priorities include support of nonpartisan get out the vote programs, legislative advocacy outreach, and data coordination within VAN (Voter Activation Network). Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating internally with organizational CRM and data sharing needs. 

As our Organizing and Data Specialist, you’ll get to:

  • Supervise part-time Voting Rights canvassers. 
    • Hire, train, and manage temporary canvassers. Supervise day-to-day canvassing activities and coach individuals on best canvassing practices.
  • Coordinate and manage the collection of all canvassing data for the Voting Rights team and coordinated program areas;
    • Create data collection plans and reporting materials
    • Generate voter engagement reports for each election cycle
    • Assess effectiveness of outreach and organizing tactics
    • Coordinate the use of data collection and voter outreach tools for all team members, including canvassers and volunteers
  • Create outreach and field plans for long-term community relationship-building, grassroots advocacy engagement and mobilization
  • Set and meet organizational goals for grassroots engagement, nonpartisan voter contact, and GOTV outreach goals
  • Identify and support key external advocacy and data partnerships
  • Ensure short-term grassroots mobilization campaigns connect with a long-term vision for community-based leadership development
  • Identify opportunities for civic engagement, training, data-sharing presentations, and collaborations with community leaders, organizations, and individuals statewide

  • A dedication to building community and the ability to engage authentically with Nebraskans of different backgrounds, ideologies, and party loyalties in a manner that builds trust and motivates others to act. 
  • Experience in grassroots community organizing practices, targeted fieldwork, or managing staff and volunteers. 
  • Familiarity with online and electronic platforms including but not limited to VAN, Thru Text, Mobilize, switchboard, social media platforms, and/or digital advertising. 
  • The ability to work with and coordinate diverse coalitions.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing strategies to achieve positive change in a community
  • A focus on leadership development and management from strategic to tactical levels
  • Bilingual language skills (preferred but not required)

Salary & Benefits

This position will earn a salary ranging from $49,500 upward, depending upon skills and experience. Benefit options include medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage. The position includes paid time off and a 401K option. This is a full-time exempt position.
