Voting Rights Field Organizer

The Voting Rights Field Organizer will help coordinate Civic Nebraska’s voting rights initiatives and organize campaigns alongside other members of team Voting Rights. Other responsibilities include assisting team Voting Rights with local and state get-out-the-vote campaigns and election protection programming. This position is largely remote with some travel. In addition to building networks in communities around Nebraska, the Greater Nebraska Voting Rights Field Organizer occasionally shares office space at Civic Nebraska’s Lincoln HQ.

As our voting rights organizer, you’ll get to

  • Lead direct outreach to voters and residents in greater Nebraska, specifically outside of the Lincoln, Omaha, and Bellevue areas.
  • Organize events and activities in greater Nebraska for voting rights initiatives and educational campaigns.
  • Lead activities for legislative organizing and provide support for community members, coalitions, and partnerships.
  • Contribute to getting out the vote by coordinating voter registration and education.
  • Organize Civic Nebraska’s Voting Rights Advocacy program alongside team members.
  • Support the Election Protection Program during all relevant primary and general elections.
  • Coordinate community partners and volunteers for team cohesion and task management.

  • A dedication to building community and the ability to engage authentically with Nebraskans of different backgrounds, ideologies, and party loyalties in a manner that builds trust and motivates others to act.Experience in grassroots community organizing, targeted fieldwork, and managing volunteers.
  • Knowledge of the voting process and legislative process.
  • Familiarity with online organizing tools and electronic communications, including VAN, phone banking, text messaging, social media platforms, and digital advertising. 
  • An ability to work independently and in different environments while also maintaining an active role on our Voting Rights Initiatives team.
  • Bilingual language skills (preferred but not required).

 

Salary & Benefits

The rate of compensation is $21.15 per hour upward, dependent upon skills and experience. This position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week with an option for full-time employment. Benefit options for full-time employment include medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage, 80% covered by the employer, unlimited paid time off, and a 401K option.
