"I was turned away."

Our neighbors are struggling to keep up with the cost of rent, especially as the shortage of affordable housing becomes more apparent. Lincoln must ensure we are using housing assistance to its full extent.

Source of income, or SOI, is any kind of income that can be used to pay for rent like a paycheck, disability, Social Security, rent assistance, or housing vouchers.

Landlords discriminate against source of income when they refuse to rent to a potential tenant because of their source of income. For example, an apartment listing may specify “No Section 8,” or telling a potential renter to not bother applying with a housing voucher, or expressing that they “don’t work with Lincoln Housing Authority.”

We can change city law so people can’t be turned away from a potential home just because of how they pay. You can help get us there.
