Busy Legislative Session So Far:

We held three trainings throughout the state to equip our voting rights advocates as they continue doing incredible work. We’ve also been busy prepping for our lobby days scheduled for late February and early March.

We are leading the fight against this year’s voter ID bills. On February 8th, we testified alongside the NAACP of Omaha and Lincoln, ACLU Nebraska, Heartland Workers Center, Black Votes Matter, and Nebraska Appleseed in opposition to LB1066. We packed the house, and opposition testimony dominated the 4 hour hearing.

In addition to Voter ID, we are also fighting to keep Nebraska from signing on to an Article V Convention, and we are supporting several bills to prevent partisan gerrymandering, modernize elections, and improve fairness and efficiency of our voter registration process.

We’ve nearly reached the halfway point, and we are excited to continue fighting for elections that are secure, accessible, and fair.
