Beginning July 18, 2024: If you are a Nebraskan and have completed your felony sentence, you can now register to vote immediately after you are off paper – meaning you have completed your term of incarceration, probation, supervised release, or parole and have satisfied any other requirements from the court and remained conviction-free.
Once you have confirmation that you are off paper, you are free to register to vote anytime on or after July 18, 2024. In order to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 5, 2024, general election, you must register to vote no later than Oct. 25, 2024.
Your first opportunity to cast a ballot will be in the Nov. 5 General Election. You can vote by mail, early in person, or in person on Election Day, from 8 am to 8 pm CST.
›› You must live in Nebraska. This includes self-supporting students who regard the location of their school as their home, and military members living on a post with no intent to return to their former place of residence;
›› You must be 18 years old on or before Nov. 5, 2024;
›› You must have not been convicted of treason under Nebraska or federal law, unless a court has restored your right to vote;
›› If you were convicted of a felony, you must have completed your sentence (including probation or parole), and;
›› You must not be subject to a court order of mental incompetency (an adult under a guardianship order can still vote unless a court order states otherwise).
