Conflict at Home and Abroad

Civic Nebraska’s school coordinators at Lincoln High and Lincoln Northeast left off last week with the question “Could patriotism and military spirit cover up class struggle?” and left us on the brink of conflict breaking out in Europe. In this chapter, World War I, we will venture into how the war affected labor movements across the United States; and hear more about how the Espionage Act led to the use of deportation, imprisonment, and murder as a means to silence certain ideas in the country.
